Plant Life Bringing in one or two real plants into your room can really transform the feeling of your space. I put my books on a separate shelf, and my beauty products on top of my desk instead of cluttering the dorm sink. Try not to bring bean bags or any extra, but unnecessary furniture pieces if you know that you will be staying in a tiny room.
As far as lighting goes, floor lamps are skinny pieces that will not take up much space, so bring those in.
